Disclaimer: Once you have placed your order the authority is given to proceed with project drawings. If you are to cancel your order after receiving these drawings, Heatlie Letterboxes reserves the right to retain up to 40% of the total cost of the job, for drawing services rendered.
Colours seen in the colour selection drop-down thumbnails and in the product images are computer-generated representations of the powder coat colours. They are not 100% accurate to how the real-life colour will appear, they are merely a guide. Several variables such as lighting and the surrounding environment will have a big impact on how your chosen colour will appear in the flesh.

Box Type & Size

Telescopic Portrait & Landscape - These are suitable for walls that surpass 240mm in depth. The box comes in two pieces that slide in and out to meet the depth of the wall, up to 470mm max. Portrait means a narrower slot, landscape wider. See dimensions listed for more details.

Rain Hood Direction
The rain hood is the flap that helps protect your mail from getting wet, as well as stops people from reaching in easily to steal your mail. It can either come down and out from the top as an external hood, or go inwards from the bottom for an internal hood.
Material
This is the material of the faceplate. Your choices are 304 stainless steel with a horizontal brush finish or aluminium powder-coated in the Colorbond colour of your choice.
We are able to supply faceplates in other materials including but not limited to...
- Brass
- Copper
- Corten Steel
- Stainless Steel 316
These are not available on the website but feel free to contact us for a quote if they interest you.
Stainless steel faceplates still require a Powdercoated aluminium box, so once "Stainless Steel" is selected, a new drop down will pop up asking you to select a colour of the box.
When "Powdercoated Aluminium" is selected, a drop down will pop up asking you to select a colour that both the faceplate and box will be Powdercoated in. We do not mix and match colours between the faceplate and box.
Font
This is the font of the text that is cut out of the faceplate. See the "Fonts" tab for more info.
Faceplate Text
This is where your street name and/or number goes. It is up to you what you include here and what the capitalisation looks like. You are welcome to have all capitals, all lowercase or title case. You can also opt to only have your street number, only your street name, or both. Including the street abbreviation (i.e. St, Ave, Rd) is optional as well.
Backing Plate Colour
The backing plate is a solid, coloured plate that is stuck behind where the faceplate text is cut out. This ensures that your text is readable and pops. Make sure to pick a contrasting colour from your faceplate. We only offer the three colours listed.
Manufacture
Once you have submitted your order and payment is received, we will create professional concept drawings. These will be sent to you via email for your approval. You have the opportunity to ask for adjustments and changes here, up to two times. Please note some changes may incur an extra charge.
Once we have your full approval in writing, we will submit the designs to the workshop to be manufactured right here in North Plympton, South Australia.
Manufacturing will not begin without your written approval. Our approx lead time for custom faceplates is 4-6 weeks from the approval of your design.
Installation
See below links for installation guides into different types of fences and walls.
It's important to make sure both the box and the faceplate are secured to the fence/wall to provide the utmost structural security. These units are not designed to take on too much weight or pressure, therefore never build bricks onto the box. If you plan to build a brick wall around the box, use an installation channel to protect the box. This also applies to gabion walls. We do not recommend laying rocks directly on top of the box as this can be very damaging. The installation channel is an easy solution to this.
If you are ordering a faceplate on its own to a attach to a wall, simply use liquid nails or any construction adhesive to attach.
For brush fences, we do not recommend ordering a custom faceplate + letterbox combination as they aren't suited to it. These are designed to be in structurally sound installations with solid surfaces for the faceplate and box to be adhered to.
