At Heatlie Letterboxes, we understand that wear and tear happens. Vandalism is a common problem for letterboxes, but it doesn’t mean you need to replace the entire unit. We offer high-quality replacement rear and front doors specifically designed for our multibank letterboxes, allowing you to restore your letterbox to like-new condition without the expense of a complete replacement.
This mostly applies to multibank units; however, some of our single units, such as the Superior or Ultimo, can also have their doors replaced.
Rear Doors
The most common form a rear door comes in looks like the example below.

They feature a flat plate with a lock and a small fold at the bottom to assist with lifting the door, as well as a piano hinge connecting it to the letterbox unit via 3–4 rivets.
Replacing these is fairly easy thanks to the rivets across the top. You simply drill these out and re-rivet new ones onto the hinge. The required information for us to manufacture these for you is the width, height (measured from the top of the door to the bottom of the fold in a straight line), and colour. We do not pre-drill rivet holes, as this is best done on site to ensure they align with existing holes. The lock hole will always be in the same position.
When measuring, take care to measure every door on the bank, as some older units had inconsistent sizing.
The good news is that if a multibank unit was built by Heatlie from 2021 onwards, these rear doors are far less likely to be vandalised. This is because we upgraded to a 3mm thick material, replacing the older 1.6mm version, which was much easier to bend.
Superior and Ultimo units feature the same rear door design, just in different sizes.

Front Doors
Multibank front doors are a different story and depend on their build and age.
A very common style seen in the field is the extrusion panel front door, like the example below.

These feature a curved top, a channel for a vinyl number strip, ribbing lines, and a key lock hole. Replacing them is a bit trickier and messier, but still achievable. They are held in place by a hinge pin that runs between two boxes. This pin sits within an extruded channel on the inside of the curved top. To remove a door, you need to open this channel using pliers; to reattach a new door, you crimp the channel back onto the pin.
These doors were produced in two distinct heights: 125mm and 135mm. This measurement is taken from the apex of the curve straight down to the bottom of the door. Widths may vary.
Our newer, post-2021 designs feature stronger materials and reinforced fixing bolts. If these become damaged, it is best to contact Heatlie for repair.
